About

CoinCap provides cryptocurrency prices, market data, and historical series through a REST API, with a free tier that requires a free API key but no credit card. You can use it to build a portfolio value calculator, to chart Bitcoin's price history back years, or to feed live-ish prices into a spreadsheet or Discord bot. The current API version requires the key on every call, so older keyless examples from tutorials will no longer work.

Setup

  2. Copy the key from your dashboard.
  3. Read the docs at https://docs.coincap.io/ to see the available endpoints.
  4. Call https://rest.coincap.io/v3/assets/bitcoin with your key as a Bearer token or apiKey parameter.
  5. Track your monthly credit usage in the dashboard so calls keep working all month.
