Setup
- Create a free account at cds.climate.copernicus.eu
- Accept the license for the datasets you want
- Install cdsapi (pip install cdsapi) and paste your personal access token
Example
import cdsapi; cdsapi.Client().retrieve('reanalysis-era5-single-levels', {'product_type': 'reanalysis', 'variable': '2m_temperature', 'year': '2024', 'month': '01', 'day': '01', 'time': ['12:00'], 'format': 'netcdf'})Use cases
- Download decades of temperature reanalysis data
- Research long-term climate trends
- Feed climate data into machine-learning models
