About

FatSecret's Platform API gives developers access to a large, accurate food and nutrition database plus recipes and exercise data. Registration is free and the API is free to use, including for commercial apps, with an attribution requirement. It supports public food-search calls as well as OAuth2 delegated calls for user profile data.

Setup

  1. Create a free developer account on the FatSecret platform site.
  2. Register your app to receive a consumer key and secret (or client ID and secret).
  3. Use OAuth2 client credentials to get an access token.
  4. Call the food search, recipe, and exercise endpoints.
  5. Add FatSecret attribution in your app as required by the API terms.
