About

Photon is an open-source search engine for the world's map. Type a city, street, or landmark and it returns coordinates, and it also works in reverse. Coordinates in, nearest places out. A public server is free to use with no key; if you get busy, you can host your own copy.

Setup

  1. No signup needed. Just use the public server at photon.komoot.io.
  2. Try /api?q=YOUR+PLACE&limit=5 to search.
  3. For reverse lookup, use /reverse?lon=LON&lat=LAT.
  4. If you outgrow the public server, the docs explain how to run your own.
