About

QuickBooks Online has a public API for customers, invoices, and payments with official SDKs. A developer account automatically provides sandbox companies for non-commercial development and testing, and those sandboxes can stay active for two years. Connecting real companies requires a paid QuickBooks subscription.

Setup

  1. Create a free developer account on the Intuit developer portal
  2. Create an app and note the client ID and client secret
  3. Use the automatically provided sandbox company for development
  4. Complete the OAuth 2.0 flow to authorize your app against the sandbox
  5. Call v3 endpoints such as /v3/company/REALM_ID/customer
  6. Test for up to two years in the sandbox before moving to production
