SuperTokens is an open-source authentication system with a self-hosted core that is free with no user cap, covering email-password, passwordless, social, and multi-tenant login. You run the core with one Docker command and add prebuilt login UI or use the APIs directly. The managed cloud version is free for up to 5,000 monthly active users, and the first three dashboard users are free. It is a good pick if you want full control of your auth data.

Setup

  1. Run the core with docker run -p 3567:3567 -d supertokens/supertokens-postgresql:latest.
  2. Install the SuperTokens SDK for your frontend and backend.
  3. Initialize the SDK with the core's connection URL.
  4. Add the prebuilt login UI or call the recipe APIs directly.
  5. Verify sessions on your backend with the SDK.
